ADDRESS

10 West Broadway (300 South)
Salt Lake City, UT 84101

OPENING DATE

1910

HISTORY

The late 19th and early 20th centuries brought eager speculators to Utah’s mining areas, but it was not until 1910 that a hotel of incomparable quality was constructed to accommodate the individuals who had discovered wealth in the rich veins of Utah’s hills. Brothers David and Joseph Peery commissioned prominent European architect Charles Onderdonk to build a grand hotel to accommodate business people and their families, and the resulting Peery Hotel was a three-story showcase of Prairie-style architecture combined with motifs of classical revival influence. It has been in continuous operation since 1910, and in 1999 the Peery was remodeled as a luxury boutique hotel that simultaneously recalls its place in the history of Salt Lake City while catering to the discerning modern traveler. Acquired by Malibu Hotel Group in 2007, the company recently completed a thorough exterior renovation of the property.

LOCATION

Situated in the heart of Salt Lake City, the hotel is within walking distance to Salt Palace Convention Center, Temple Square, Energy Solutions Arena (home of the Utah Jazz), Family History Library, Mormon Tabernacle Choir, many theaters, and much more. There are 68 restaurants and 27 bars and clubs located within a two-block radius of the property. The Peery Hotel is just 7 miles from the airport.

DESCRIPTION

The renowned Peery Hotel personifies gracious hospitality and modern convenience, while preserving the tradition of the past. Connoisseurs of period detail will appreciate the grand staircase, authentic antiques, marble flooring, and the charm of the old-style pigeonholes behind the original front desk for letters. The vestibule’s ‘egg and dart’ cornice work took an incredible 14 years to hand turn, and natural light illuminates the hotel’s corridors.

The newly renovated exterior features black canvas awnings and restored original windows. One hundred years of paint was removed and the hotel was painted a rich plum with white trim.
